Did Chris Brown cancel his concert in Guyana in fear of local protests over his 2009 assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna?

Not so fast.

According to The Huffington Post and concert promoter Hits & Jams Entertainment, Brown backed out of the concert due to women's rights groups protesting that Brown would not be welcome in Guyana after assaulting the Barbadian singer.

However, according to Brown's camp, that's not the case.

Brown's rep tells E! News: "This concert was never confirmed. The promoter is being untruthful."

Another thing that remains unconfirmed?

Rihanna and Chris Brown's current relationship status.

The former couple have ignited rumors they're back together after recent PDA moments and even a collaboration on Rihanna's album Unapologetic, entitled "Nobody's Business."

Chris pleaded guilty to felony assault in June 2009 and was sentenced to five years probation.
