From Mr. and Mrs. Smith to Mr. and Mrs. Pitt!

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were married Saturday at Château Miraval in France, the couple's spokesman tells E! News. The actors wed in a small chapel in a private ceremony attended by family and friends.

Prior to the nondenominational civil ceremony, the movie stars obtained a marriage license from a local California judge, who also conducted the wedding ceremony in France. The Jolie-Pitt kids— Maddox, 13, Pax, 11, Zahara, 9, Shiloh, 8, and twins Knox and Viviennne, 6—participated in their parents' wedding.

Jolie walked down the aisle with her elder sons, while Zahara and Vivienne threw petals. Shiloh and Knox served as ring bearers. Other details regarding the wedding have not been disclosed to the public.

As a source told E! News last month, the couple had longed to marry at the recently renovated Château Miraval: "It'll be a lovely celebration to start life in the new house...They want to marry there at that house and celebrate how far they've come as a family, as a couple, and individually in just 10 years."

Pitt, 50, proposed to Jolie, 39, in 2012 and designed an engagement ring with Robert Procop. In recent years, the Fury star cited increasing pressure from his children as the main reason for deciding to marry. "We're getting a lot of pressure from the kids," he told E! News months after popping the question. "We didn't realize how much it meant to them and then, in getting engaged, how much it also means to us."

While promoting Maleficent in May 2014, Jolie told USA Today she didn't even "have a dress." In a Good Morning America interview that same month, she said, "We talk to the kids about it once in a while... And one of them suggested paintball. And we thought, 'Well, different.' So who knows? You know, I think the important thing is that whatever we do, it's that the kids do have a great time, and we all...take seriously the love, and the connection between all of us. But also just get silly and do something memorable."

In Elle's June 2014 issue, Jolie shed new insight into her relationship with the World War Z star. "You get together and you're two individuals and you feel inspired by each other, you challenge each other, you complement each other, drive each other beautifully crazy," she said. "After all these years, we have history—and when you have history with somebody, you're friends in such a very real, deep way that there's such a comfort, and an ease, and a deep love that comes from having been through quite a lot together."

This is the second marriage for Pitt, whose marriage to Jennifer Aniston ended in 2005. Jolie has been married twice before, to Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.

The AP was the first to report Pitt and Jolie's wedding.
