No doubt about it: Gerard Butler's a doting son.
The Hollywood hunk brought his mom, Margaret Butler, as his date to Monday night's premiere of his new action flick, Olympus Has Fallen, at ArcLight Cinema's famed Cinerama Dome in Hollywood.
And by Butler's accounts, she gave his tough-as-nails performance in this Die Hard-in-the-White House tale a big thumbs up.
"She's proud. I mean I love having them out here. It's great...[seeing] my mom and my step-father. And my mom loves to see me kickin' ass," the 43-year-old actor tells E! News.
In Olympus, Butler plays a Secret Service agent (and former Special Ops soldier, natch) who, after being demoted to desk duty, is the only one left inside the White House who can rescue the president after terrorists take over the iconic building and hold him hostage. The thesp also produced the film by the way.
Joining Butler at the premiere were costars Angela Bassett, Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Dylan McDermott and Ashley Judd, who plays the first lady (and who may be running for the U.S. Senate soon in real life). In fact, the actress and Butler were all smiles as she greeted the Scottish native on the red carpet.
Olympus Has Fallen, directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day), hits theaters on Friday.
