Natalie Portman is about to join Michael Fassbender in a new big-screen adaptation of Macbeth.

The 31-year-old actress will play the coveted role of scheming Lady Macbeth in the upcoming remake, according to reports.

On Monday, it was confirmed that the Shame actor was set to star as the title character in the Shakespeare's Scottish play, but no other casting announcements had been made.

The latest version of Macbeth will reportedly retain Shakespeare's original language and setting, so we can expect some "What's done is done" and "Out, out brief candle" emoting (and frankly, we can't wait) as well as the play's bloody violence.

Production is set to begin later this year and will be directed by Justin Kurzel and with a script written by Todd Louiso and Jacob Koskoff based off Shakespeare's not-too-shabby original text.
