Watch: Nathan Sykes' First U.S. Chat After Surgery

Nathan Sykes is on the mend.

The sexy The Wanted star chatted with E! News in the first exclusive U.S. interview since undergoing vocal surgery in April, and luckily, the hunky musician is feeling much better.

"I'm feeling a lot better than I did two months ago. Let's just put it that way," Sykes exclusively tells E! News.

The 20-year-old pop star returned to the stage Sunday, performing at the Summertime Ball Festival at London's Wembley Stadium. The singer called it an "amazing" experience he was lucky to be a part of as, he tells us, he was due to be out for the summer but was determined to get better.

"I have a lot more control of my voice now and I know when it's tired…and I know what I have to do to not make it sound bad," he said.

Sykes told us he was devastated when he first found out he had to have surgery—and even had a panic attack before the operation. He admitted it took a lot of hard work before he started feeling better, but the support of his fans, family and friends helped the heartthrob push through the pain.

"The fans have been incredible," he gushed. "They really kept me going. They were always online going ‘How you doing? How you doing?' but I didn't want to say too much because they were always like ‘When you back?' that was always the first question and I didn't want to say specific dates just in case I didn't make it. I had to see the doctor before my first performance and if he said no I didn't want to let anyone down."

Sykes also received support from a few famous pals, including a tweet from Justin Bieber, whom he describes as a "really nice lad."

As for adjusting to American life in the spotlight with the band's E! series The Wanted Life?

The good-looking boy-bander confessed it took awhile to get used to the cameras, but now he's enjoying the experience.

"It's all real life," he insisted when asked if the bandmates act up for the cameras. "It's literally how we are with cameras behind us. We did a fan event which was wicked and we invited some fans up to the house because basically we wanted to show off and we don't really get much chance to do that."

So is there any time for romance with such a busy schedule?

Hardly. But Sykes admitted his bandmates are always trying to set him up because they "feel sorry" for him, and surprisingly enough, the self-professed "hopeless romantic" says he has trouble in the love department.

"They're very confident American girls and they like a British accent, I'm told. It didn't really work for me to be honest because I talk really quick and I kind of like stumble over my words," he said before adding, "It might just be my face."

We doubt it.
