Chris Brown's legal woes just got a little lighter, but he's not out of the woods by a long shot.

The "Run" singer's attorney, Mark Geragaos, entered a plea of not guilty Tuesday on Brown's behalf to a charge of hit-and-run, E! News confirms.

The misdemeanor stems from a May 21 incident in which Breezy was accused of hitting a California woman's car and allegedly refusing to give his driver's license number and then left the scene.

As a result of the mishap, a Judge last week revoked Brown's felony probation from his 2009 assault of Rihanna and set a probation violation hearing for Aug. 18.

But before that can get sorted out, Brown had to first be arraigned for the hit-and-run charge. And on that note, while the hitmaker did not appear in court today in person, he did get a little bit of good news.

The Los Angeles City Attorney moved to dismiss two counts against him—a charge of driving without a valid driver's license and not having proof of insurance. This after Geragos maintained during the hearing that Brown did, in fact, have a Virginia driver's license and was not required to have a California one.

As for the insurance charge, prosecutors noted that C.B. eventually supplied them with proof at a later date.

A trial in the hit-and-run matter has been scheduled for Aug. 15.

The judge also stipulated that because he wasn't arrested back in May, Brown must turn himself in and provide proof of booking to the court by no later than Aug. 6—which means taking another mug shot.

The Grammy winner remains free on his own recognizance and Geragos has since told E! News that he was still working on a civil compromise with the victim, who has been identified as Olga Aleksandrovna-Gure.

Aleksandrovna-Gure alleges she was stopped at a red light when she was rear-ended by a vehicle later determined to be driven by Brown, who was with his on-again, off-again girlfriend Karrueche Tran.

According to the victim's statement and DA report, Brown refused to hand over his driver's license as required by law and instead Tran gave hers. When it appeared he was leaving the scene, Aleksandrovna-Gure snapped a picture of the singer, at which point she noted he went "ballistic" and tried to take her camera and called her a "bitch." The enraged R&B star and his gal-pal subsequently got back in their car and sped off.
