CBS isn't looking to leave the dome anytime soon!

Under the Dome has officially been renewed for a second season, the network announced Monday during their presentation at the 2013 Summer TCA Press Tour.

The adaptation of Stephen King's novel, which centers on the town of Chester's Mill's residents after a dome entraps them, will return Summer 2014 with a 13-episode season, with King set to write the premiere episode.

"It is official and Stephen King will be writing the first episode of that 13-episode arc," Les Moonves told reporter during the panel, adding that the drama has "changed the face of summer television."

In a statement, CBS president Nina Tassler added, "We're excited to tell more stories about the mystery of the dome and the secrets in Chester's Mill, and are thrilled to have the master storyteller himself, Stephen King, tell the first one of next season."

Under the Dome has been a huge success for CBS as it was TV's most-watched summer premiere since 2007, bringing in 13.1 million viewers.
