Katee Sackhoff Was Rejected for Wonder Woman Because She Wasn't the "Type"—Say What!?

Battlestar Galactica veteran had meetings about playing the iconic character

Katee Sackhoff was told she was not the Wonder Woman "type." Let that sink in.

The Battlestar Galactica and Longmire star told TotalFilm.com she auditioned for NBC's Wonder Woman TV series, but things didn't quite work out in her favor.

"I'd love to play Wonder Woman. I remember auditioning for the Wonder Woman television show and being told that I wasn't the Wonder Woman type, but if I wanted to play the best friend, I could audition for that," Sackhoff said. "And [I] remember thinking to myself, 'You obviously haven't seen my work!'"

Sackhoff played butt-kicking pilot Kara "Starbuck" Thrace on BSG from 2004-2009.

NBC and David E. Kelley tried to bring Wonder Woman back to TV with a 2011 pilot. The role eventually went to Friday Night Lights star Adrianne Palicki. The pilot never made it to air, despite coming thisclose to making it on the fall schedule. However, it did eventually leak online.

Palicki has been quite vocal about her time in Wonder Woman's star-spangled costume.

"I got to play Wonder Woman which was, by the way, maybe one of the coolest things ever," Palicki told IGN. "I was devastated when it didn't go and it was expected to. It was one of those things that was shocking. But in retrospect it was probably a blessing. It would've been a really hard thing to shoot. And I got to wear the costume—I should say, I got paid to wear the costume! So not many people get to say that. [laughs] I'm really blessed to have gotten to do that and maybe someday down the line I'll get to play that character or another awesome icon again."

Following NBC's failed attempt at bringing the Amazon princess back TV—Lynda Carter starred in Wonder Woman from 1975-1979—The CW ordered a script about the DC Comics character. The script, originally penned by Allan Heinberg, was an origin story of sorts. It didn't make it to pilot and the network kicked it to Heroes writer Aron Eli Coleite to retool. Nothing has come of that project, but Wonder Woman will make her big screen debut in the Man of Steel sequel. Gal Gadot will play the iconic character opposite Henry Cavill's Superman and Ben Affleck's Batman. Details on Gadot's role remain scarce still.
