"I think this world would be better off having more young women holding a fish in a picture than holding their camera in front of a bathroom mirror, talking a selfie." The 2008 Vice Presidential candidate announced to a room full of reporters at the Television Critics Association Friday morning.
Although we're not sure how many girls would be thrilled to swap out their duck faces for duck hunting, Palin believes that her new series, Amazing America on the Sportsman Channel, will inspire more young women to step away from their computers and phones and go out and explore the great outdoors.
The Sportsman Channel, which proudly boasts the tagline, "Red, Wild & Blue," is thrilled to have the former Alaskan Governor on board for their new series, which premieres in April. Crowned the "First Lady of the Outdoors," Palin will travel coast-to-coast exploring some of the most original, interesting, and sometimes inspiring people, places and pastimes connected to America's outdoors lifestyle.
Rocking a pair of sky-high American flag inspired heels, Palin warmly addressed the ballroom of reporters with a cheeky little greeting: "I'm glad to be here because I love critics," she laughed. "You know how much I love the media. So a room full of media, television critics together? I can't beat this combination for pleasure." She then stressed that critics and audiences alike are "going to have a ball" while watching her new reality series.
When E! News asked what Palin would like Amazing America to teach the young girls who tune in, Palin was quick to respond saying, "That they need to be, and can be, and have to power to be self-reliant. They can be independent and they too have equal opportunity to get out there and enjoy all that has been given to us here in America."
She continued, "I want to see young girls get out there and do what my daughters have been able to do. In fact, my girls I think in some respect would be a good example for what it is that they can accomplish…The girls want to kind of be a spokesperson for a healthy lifestyle that I think can result in a more industrious America. So I want to see more girls kind of be turned on to that."
Palin concluded her session stressing that she has not been this excited to be apart of a television series in a very long time. "I'm more excited about this project than many of the other projects I've done in the past," she said, receiving a round of laughter. Hmm, could this be a subtle dig at her 2010 TLC reality series, Sarah Palin's Alaska? We'll let you be the judge…
