It's only fitting that Prince William would do the honors himself.

The Duke of Cambridge bestowed a number of orders of chivalry on deserving compatriots today at Buckingham Palace, including a knighthood on Dr. Marcus Setchell, who led the team that delivered William and Kate Middleton's son, Prince George, last summer.

Setchell was Queen Elizabeth II's longtime surgeon-gynaecologist, and he put off retirement to be around for the royal baby's birth, as well as looked after Kate when she was hospitalized during the earlier stages of her pregnancy. She attended his retirement lunch at the Hyde Park Hilton earlier this month.

For a career well done, he is now Sir Marcus, knight commander of the Royal Victorian Order, having taken the requisite oath of loyalty to the crown and deemed so by a sword-wielding William.

"Well of course it's a great honor and it's very nice that I was able to serve [the queen] for 24 years and that the culmination of it was that Prince George should be born," Setchell said after the ceremony, per Britain's Daily Mail.

"Being a gynaecologist and obstetrician must be one of the nicest jobs in the world...There are sometimes things where people are having difficulty getting pregnant or having problems gynaecologically but a great part of the job is thoroughly joyful and it's just a wonderful job to have done. 'I think even after doing this job for 40 years every birth is exciting, moving and lovely."

Referring to the job of assuring Prince George's safe passage into this world, Setchell added: "The job of doing it is just the same pleasurable, lovely experience and one hopes for the couple as well."

It may be difficult to find such a devoted, attentive doc—but it sounds as if Kate and William aren't in the market for another OBGYN just yet.

"One's enough at the moment," Will said yesterday while attending the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Aldershot, England, with Kate, who rocked a gorgeous forest-green coat for the occasion.
