Why would Tori Spelling let cameras document the most difficult time of her life?

It's the question nearly everyone's been asking since Lifetime announced that she would be starring in docu-series True Tori, which began filming just six days after Dean McDermott left rehab for sex addiction. "My whole life I feel like people got it wrong," Spelling says in a clip from the first episode, airing April 22. "I wanted people to get me, to see the real me, so that's why I wanted to do this."

The mother of four then details how she first learned of her husband's infidelity. "I got a call from my publicist and she said, 'I just want to tell you something. It's a girl, and she's claiming that she had an affair with Dean in Toronto when he was there. The girl has come forward. She's put her name to the story. She's giving all the details about her two-day affair with your husband in Toronto, and it's going to come out next week—Christmas.'" That woman turned out to be 28-year-old Emily Goodhand.

Spelling, who had been married once before, confronted the Chopped Canada host immediately. "I asked Dean to step outside so I could talk to him in private. I wanted the truth. I didn't want to make him defensive, I just wanted him to know that I knew, to see what he said," the 40-year-old Beverly Hills, 90210 star recalls. "My heart was pounding so fast, like it is right now, that I could barely speak."

In the first True Tori trailer, 47-year-old McDermott admitted to being "out of control" during what appeared to be a counseling session. "Sex was an escape, just like drugs and alcohol," he said.

"I could never give him enough sex," his wife cried. "He's never going to be happy with just me."
