Rev your engines, the finish line is near!

Sons of Anarchy's seventh and final season is set to debut this fall and we've finally got our first look at the beginning of the end, which looks to be decidedly less hairy. Literally.

In behind-the-scenes pics from a promo shoot, posted by FX's Vice President of Media Relations, Dominic Pagone, star Charlie Hunnam is sporting quite a different look than the Jax Teller we've come to know and (mostly) love in seasons past: he's clean-shaven!

"And here he is, Mr. Charlie Hunnam," Pagone posted as the caption under one pic of Hunnam preparing for a shoot, before sharing another. "Now he's ready," he wrote.

Of course, fans soon began to speculate about what Hunnam was filming, leading Pagone to clarify that the star was just at a promo shoot for the FX hit's upcoming return. "Last night was the first of 2 promo shoots; this was just with Charlie. I'll tease a few shots, but remember." He then added, "So don't over-analyze the photos, don't speculate; just get excited for the start of season 7!"

Pagone did have a little fun with all of the fan speculation, posting the photo above with the caption, "Ok, you get one spoiler: #Jax is radioactive the season. @SonsofAnarchy#soafx#hesreallynot."

Later, Pagone tweeted photos of Hunnam back on Jax's bike. "Of course there has to be riding," he wrote

As for what fans can expect for Jax, aside from the possible loss of his beard, in the final season? Creator Kurt Sutter said the death of (Spoiler Alert!) his wife, Tara (Maggie Siff), in the season six finale will have a major impact on Jax's journey in season seven.

"I wanted to remove [Jax's] 'True North,' because I feel like there needs to be this major psychic and emotional shift that has to happen. What direction it will push him in we will see next season," Sutter explained. "But what happens to a guy like that now that he's lost both of the people he loves the most, who were able to be his moral compass, with Opie and now Tara. It really is Jax completely untethered and on his own in the final season."

But one character's death is another's promotion as Drea de Matteo has been upped to series regular for the final season after making appearances as Wendy Case, Jax's estranged ex-wife, since season one.

Sons of Anarchy's final ride kicks off this fall on FX.
