DMac/CPR/FAMEFLYNET Jesse Tyler Ferguson seems to approve of his Modern Family co-star and bestie Sofía Vergara's new romance with Joe Manganiello.
"I was with her on her birthday and she brought him out," Ferguson told me last night at the Emmy Awards Performers Peer Group Celebration at the Montage Beverly Hills hotel. "You know when something is new like that, you don't know what the energy is going to be like. I will say that they're extremely comfortable around one another and that's a sign of them just having a really nice time. I think he's a really good guy."
Vergara celebrated turning 42 earlier this month with a dinner for family and friends at Nobu in Malibu.
Ferguson actually knew the True Blood hottie before Vergara did. It's not clear if Ferguson is the one who introduced them, but he is in the same photos at the White House Correspondents Dinner in May with the duo, who reportedly first met at the politico event.
When I asked if he'd like Manganiello to appear on Modern Family using Mitch and Cam's hot tub like James Marsden has done in the past, Ferguson smiled, "I'm not going to say no to that."
But wouldn't it be a little uncomfortable ogling Manganiello now that he and Vergara are an item? "No!" Ferguson said. "If it is, I'm OK with it."
Vergara and Manganiello were spotted in the Miami area this weekend, spending time with friends and the Colombian beauty's family.
