Not all celebrities lose their baby weight via breast-feeding alone.

In fact, a number of stars struggle to get back in shape after childbirth.

"I don't really read that kind of stuff, just because I know the world and I know how people take everything out of context, so I choose to stay outside of all of that. If I really looked at my girlfriends and my peers, I don't think any of them have ever said anything like that—ever," Kate Hudson says. "Because they've all said it's hard work."

The Fabletics activewear founder tells Yahoo U.K. that "it's a very rare thing" for a woman to "lose baby weight" without exercising or dieting regularly. "I mean, scientifically, that's the craziest thing I've ever heard. Some women have that metabolism where you're like, 'Wow, you didn't even gain any weight being pregnant.' Well, that's not me," Hudson, 35, says, "and a lot of women probably relate to that."

"It's the Outliers thing, isn't it? If you want to be successful at anything you have to put the hours in."

The leading lady is mom to sons Ryder Robinson, 10, and Bingham Bellamy, 3. How does she stay fit? "I try to break a sweat once a day, but I'm a big believer in not over-pushing yourself," the actress explains.

Hudson gained 70 lbs. with both pregnancies. "The experience of trying to lose it was really interesting, because I'd never been in a situation where I realized I really needed to lose quite a few pounds," she says. "I'd lose 10 lbs. and then I'd plateau at 150 and I'd stay there forever. It was really discouraging."

"I was always athletic and I was always very active, so I never had that experience of putting on that kind of weight. When I did, it was like, 'Oh, wow. Here's that moment where you have to push through it is really emotional.' You get down on yourself," the Wish I Was Here star admits. "You get discouraged."

"You don't change anything – you just have to push through it," she advises. "That's the hardest part."
