Actress Daniele Watts was briefly handcuffed and detained by two police officers Thursday afternoon after allegedly engaging in PDA with her boyfriend.

According to Los Angeles police, officers responded to a citizen's complaint about indecent exposure. A nearby resident claimed a white male and black female were involved in a sexual act inside a silver Mercedes Benz with the door open.

Watts says nothing inappropriate occurred.

"I was handcuffed and detained…after refusing to agree that I had done something wrong by showing affection, fully clothed, in a public place," she wrote on Facebook. "When the officer arrived, I was standing on the sidewalk by a tree. I was talking to my father on my cell phone."

She added, "I knew that I had done nothing wrong, that I wasn't harming anyone, so I walked away."

A few minutes later, Watts says police forced her into handcuffs and moved her into the back of a police car. Her boyfriend, Brian, added that the actress refused to give her ID to police "because they had no right to do so."

"I could tell that whoever called on us (including the officers), saw a tatted RAWKer white boy and hot bootie shorted black girl and thought we were a HO (prostitute) & a TRICK (client)," he wrote on Facebook. "This is something that happened to her and her father when she was 16. What an assumption to make!!!"

During the investigation, police officials tells E! News Watts and her boyfriend were detained and it was determined that no crime was committed. The individuals were later released.

Watts says the whole experience taught her a valuable lesson.

"Today I exist with courage, knowing that I am blessed to have experienced what I did today," she wrote on Facebook. "All of those feelings, no matter how uncomfortable. These feelings are what builds my internal strength, my ability to grow through WHATEVER may happen to me."

In addition to Django Unchained, Watts has also appeared on several episodes of Weeds and has earned guest roles on How I Met Your Mother, Melissa and Joey and Private Practice.
