American Horror Story: Freak Show's posters and trailers have been the stuff of beautiful nightmares and E! News' exclusive poster is no different.

Everything looks totally glamorous and normal, right? Look a little closer. Two hands on one arm. Ryan Murphy, you twisted genius.

The new season of American Horror Story is set in the 1950s where Jessica Lange is Elsa Mars, a "chanteuse" (Murphy's description, no word if she's elusive) and the owner of one of the last remaining freak shows in America.

The German ex-pat is joined by her second-in-command Ethel Darling, the bearded lady, played by Kathy Bates. Other "freaks" include conjoined twins Bette and Dot (Sarah Paulson), Pepper (returning Asylum cast member Naomi Grossman), Jimmy Darling (Evan Peters), three-breasted Desiree (Angela Bassett) and strongman Del (Michael Chiklis). The cast also includes Emma Roberts, Denis O'Hare, Frances Conroy, Pattie LaBelle, Finn Wittrock, Gabourey Sidibe and guest appearances by Matt Bomer and Wes Bentley. They'll be menaced by a scary clown played by John Carroll Lynch.

Last season, American Horror Story: Coven, had a campier tone, but rest assured, this year will be scarier.

"I have to say, Freak Show is really scarier...I read the script and I was having nightmares," Roberts told E! News.

American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres Oct. 8 at 10 p.m. on FX.
