Everything you know about The Good Wife changed last season…and it could do it again. The CBS drama ended season five with Alicia (Julianna Margulies) getting an unexpected offer from Eli Gold (Alan Cumming): Would she run for State's Attorney?
Viewers will get an answer within the first minute of the season six premiere, but the ramifications will be felt throughout, especially when it comes to Peter (Chris Noth), Alicia's estranged husband. Alicia and Peter are married in name only after last season's blowout following Will's (Josh Charles) death.

Peter has some skeletons in his closet, that's for sure, but would having Alicia in the State's Attorney's office really protect him? We've seen Alicia grow more and more tired of the corruption she sees every day. What would happen if she and Peter are forced to work closely together once again?
What do you want fans to know before Sunday?
Michelle: One thing they may want to know is the episode premiere of season six starts just seconds after season five ends, so we're not slowing down for even a moment. We're barreling right ahead with our story.
Robert: The other thing is this season will be more serialized than other seasons, so a little more what you might expect from cable. For example, even in the first episode, it doesn't have a case that resolves, you will see more of that.
I think that lends itself to a better story.
Robert: It does. One of the joys of TV I think is the anticipation in waiting a week for the answer to a question or the resolution to a story. I think, obviously, binge-watchers just churn right on, but there's also the fun of, "OK, what's going to happen."
Are there any warnings you'd issue viewers before Sunday?
Robert: Uh…no.
Michelle: [Laughs.] Eat a nice dinner.
Robert: I'm trying to think. No, I think shows tend to try to fill people in very quickly on where they are and what it's about. I think for new viewers, this is not a bad season to jump in on because I think right from the beginning you're quickly pulled into a story that is not a story that continues from last season. It's around three or four stories, two or three from last season and two new ones.
