In just a few short hours you'll finally understand why we're so obsessed with Red Band Society, and we can't wait.

We know we've been a little gushy when it comes to the new Fox drama, which finally premieres tonight, but we couldn't help ourselves. It's just that good. Centering on a group of teenagers who form a unique clique as they are all patients in the pediatric ward of an L.A. hospital, Red Band Society is the happiest sad show to hit the small screen in a while. As we said, we kind of just want to hug it, and we're hoping everyone else who tunes into the first episode will, too.

The leader of the group of kids? Leo (Charlie Rowe), the rebellious-yet-soulful cancer patient, who has been in the ward the longest and has lost his leg and hair to the disease.

To take on the role of Leo, 18-year-old Charlie Rowe had to shave his head and, of course, documented the process. In the exclusive video above, a slightly nervous Rowe lets us watch as he has his hair shaved off. "He's getting his hair cut off!" costar Griffin Gluck, who plays Charlie (aka Coma Boy), says with a little too much enthusiasm.

"I look like some sort of punk monk," Rowe jokes when just half of his hair is shaved off.

So how does Rowe react to seeing himself bald for the first time? Watch the video above to find out!

Red Band Society premieres tonight at 9 p.m. on Fox.
