Some may just use social media to update friends on what they had for lunch, share inspirational quotes or remind everyone what they look like (#selfie), but others have used some of today's advanced technology to create a brand for themselves.

In an upcoming Untold With Maria Menounos (airing Thursday), we explore some of the young celebs who found "InstaFame" with the help of social media—especially YouTube and Vine.

From Tyler Oakley to Lilly Singh to a name we all recognize, Rebecca Black, there are plenty of stars who have found a way to create a fanbase of billions and become successful in an untraditional way.

Here's a little introduction to seven Internet celebs you should know...

Tyler Oakley, YouTube Star: The 25-year-old video personality began making clips in 2007 and quickly went viral. He has become an advocate for LGBT youth and currently has over five million subscribers (and two Teen Choice Awards!).

Boyce Avenue, Band: Three brothers, Alejandro Luis, Daniel Enrique and Fabian Rafael Manzano, formed a Puerto Rican-American rock band and used YouTube to get their musical talent out into the world. It worked! Their two YouTube channels, BoyceAvenue and BoyceAvenueExtras have had a total of over 1 billion views as of 2014 and the group is currently on tour.

Simone Shepherd, Vine Star: The Pittsburgh native is well-known for creating sketch comedy on the social media app, and has found multiple ways to entertain her nearly three million followers with her six-second clips.

Brittany Furlan, Vine Star: Like Shepherd, Furlan has also been able to flaunt her comedic talent with six-second clips (the two even collaborate on some sketches!), and currently ranks as one of the most popular Viners with over seven million followers.

Rebecca Black, YouTube Star: Who else pops into your head when you hear "Friday"? The 17-year-old gained massive media attention after releasing her catchy hit in 2011 and has continued to gain subscribers ever since.

Lilly Singh, YouTube Star: Known by her YouTube pseudonym Superwoman, the Indo-Canadian became known as a video personality, motivational speaker and comedienne, and is coming up to 4 million subscribers on the popular viral video website.

Hannah Hart, YouTube Star: Nicknamed Harto, the 27-year-old American internet personality, comedian and author is best known for starring in My Drunk Kitchen, a weekly series on YouTube in which she cooks something while intoxicated.
