Forget booties and scarves, lipsticks are what should top your fall shopping list.

Because everyone knows swiping on a fresh tube is the easiest way to switch up your look. Plus, there's something about the rich, dark colors (á la mulberry) that are unique to the season so even if you're wearing the same ol' wardrobe you'll still appear like you've made a major change.

But we'll admit it: bold lipsticks can be a bit scary. There's a delicate balance between dark glamour and Goth. Which is why we left the decision-making up to the masters. We chatted with the top celebrity makeup artists on their eight favorite picks for fall lipsticks—everything from classic reds to perfect plums.

So, take note, because they're about to drop some truly importantly beauty knowledge:

1. Kate Bosworth and Jessica Alba's makeup artist Daniel Martin: "My favorite is Lipstick Queen Silver Screen Lipstick in Made It. It's a deep berry with a moisturizing finish."

2. Rose Byrne's makeup artist Georgie Eisdell:"I am loving Tom Ford Cherry Lush and Wild Ginger. I love the brightness of both, the pink in Cherry Lush and the cool shade of orange in the Wild Ginger. You can really wear them during the day to put a pep in your step or keep it fun and fresh for the evening."

3. Nicole Richie and Nina Dobrev's makeup artist Beau Nelson: "The new NARS Audacious lipsticks are incredible but the standout shade for me for fall is Lena—a vivid almost neon orange red that looks incredible with a strong brow and a neutral face."

4. Jennifer Garner and Elizabeth Bank's makeup artist Fiona Stiles: "My new favorite color for fall is from L'Oréal. They have a new range of Colour Riche Glossy Balm out, and the color I am loving for fall is called Petite Plum.  What I'm crazy about is the texture; it that feels like a balm, but looks like a lipstick.  The color is vivid, but has a little transparency to it, so it doesn't feel too intense, and it gives just the right amount of a super flattering plummy color.  When a darker color is too opaque it goes goth really quickly, but this color is that perfect chic plum that's easy to wear and feel cozy, like a cashmere sweater."

5. Kaley Cuoco's makeup artist Jamie Greenberg: "Mark's All Butter Now in Bare All. It's the perfect nude hue for fall. Nudes tend to look dry on the lip but his one is extra hydrating because they added shea, cocoa, and mango seed butters—so super creamy!"

6. Charlize Theron and Naomi Watt's makeup artist Pati Dubroff (who also created the above Kate Bosworth look): "NARS Audacious Lipstick give full coverage, hold really well and most importantly, don't feel dry on the lips. I'm torn which color is my favorite. I love Fanny—a rich berry with some brightness that will replace red lipstick for me this fall. But I also love Vanessa—the most perfect pinky nude color, which will enhance a natural lip and not blank it out."
