Perhaps that's why, after a brief stint back as a blonde, the Fifty Shades of Grey star reverted to brown hair à la Anastasia Steele!
The 24-year-old actress debuted her new darker 'do Thursday afternoon in New York City's SoHo neighborhood. The brunette-again star looked very laid-back and city chic wearing a sheer cream blouse underneath white overalls paired with sunglasses and Converse sneakers.
This outfit is decidedly more modest than what she and co-star Jamie Dornan will be wearing (and not wearing) in Fifty Shades of Grey. And because Dakota will likely be showing a serious amount of skin, she'd rather her famous mom, Melanie Griffith, and dad, Don Johnson, stay far away from the theater!
"[Dakota] was like, 'You guys cannot come. There's no way.' So we're not going," Melanie, 57, told IndieWire. "I did go visit for a couple of days when they were shooting just normal stuff. I did see the Room of Pain—I did go in there and check it out."
Even though Dakota's mom won't be watching as she unleashes her Inner Goddess onscreen, she is, of course, incredibly proud of her.
"She's amazing—so good," Melanie gushed. "It's just so beautiful to see her doing this. She had her mom and her dad and her grandmother [Tippi Hedren] and she's just taken us all and thrown us away. She's like, ‘Here I am.'"
Oh, my! Fifty Shades of Grey, the movie, hits theaters Feb. 13, 2015.
