The 10 Coolest Things You See When You Attend a Cat Film Festival

Besides the cat celebrities, the Los Angeles Feline Film Festival had tons of shelters there to promote their life-saving work

Plus, Lil' Bub! So if you want to feel like you were really amidst the cat madness, just check out all the things I saw and learned while attending the LA Feline Festival, aka the BIGGEST EVENT OF THE DECADE:

1. Celebrity Cats!

One of the biggest draws of the festival was the lineup of celebrity cats, including the one and only Lil' Bub! That's her looking at my new iPhone 6 in wonderment:

I got to talk to Lil' Bub's owner/handler/slave about how the sweet kitty has taken over the Internet, and I found out this cat has a crazy schedule. "This is our seventh meet and greet over the past couple of months, and between all the meet and greets, we've raised over $50,000 bucks," her owner said. "She's overcome so much and she's such an inspiration. She just supports positivity. She inspires everybody."

I also got to meet Tara the hero cat, which was a highlight of my day, if not my life.

Hopefully you remember Tara the hero cat's story, but if not, you must read all about how she saved a toddler from being attacked by a dog in the most incredible, badass fashion.

Glee fans will recognize this next ball of fluff:

That's Lord Tubbington (real name Aragon), the true love of Brittany's (Heather Morris) life.

And this is Sunglass Cat, who constantly had a crowd of fans clamoring for photos with this fly feline. She was born cross-eyed and without eyelids, so her sunglasses are for her comfort, and because they make her look hella cool.

2. Cat Lovers

People were encouraged to wear cat costumes and bring their own cats, which meant plenty of eye candy for cat fans. And that also meant plenty of cats on leashes and in baby bjorns.

3. Food trucks

Obviously. I think legally you can't classify anything as a "fest" unless there are food trucks. And because you are probably really wondering, I'll have you know I went to the Grilled Cheese Truck.

4. Cat Shelters

Looking to adopt? Donate? Fawn over adorable kittens and cats? LA Feline Film Fest had you covered and then some.

A Cat's Tale shelter was there showing off their sweet kitties who need homes, including these champs named Little Joe and Adam, who both just had eye surgery to correct a condition that caused them to grow up without eyelids:

And they were raffling off a session with a Pet Psychic:

By far one of the most original prizes at the fest.

Basically, everywhere you turned a cat was looking at you and it took everything in my power not to just throw my credit card in the air and yell: "I will take every single cat here!"

If you are looking to adopt, here are some shelters in the LA area that always have cats that need homes:

Found Animals' Adopt & Shop

The Milo Foundation

5. Crazy Cat Products

I bought so many things for my cats, including a feline yoga mat

That sounds crazy, but if you have a cat then you know that whenever you lay out your yoga mat, those a--holes will be lounging on it faster than you can say: "yoga is too hard; let's get frozen yogurt instead because it sounds like 'yoga.'" My cats loved this thing:

There was dissolving cat litter that helps train your cat to use the toilet:

It's called Cat of Thrones, which is the best name ever.

And cat sushi!

Not real sushi, but they were actually life-like toys by Whimsily Ever After.

I spent way too much money.

6. Cat Art

Face painting was the one thing I'm really mad I didn't get a chance to do. I would have been a tiger for sure.

Marvel cats by Angie Hu designs.

Shark Tank got a name drop.

7. Cat Relieving Stations

In case you were curious as to where the cats went to the bathroom, they had stations like this one.

8. Cat Films

Duh. The actual film festival didn't start until it got dark, but during the day the stage was where Tara the hero cat and Lil' Bub did Q&A's with the crowd. Or, like in this photo, it's where people just sat down between cat-tivities.

9. A mobile neutering clinic

The Lucy Pet Foundation helps prevent pet overpopulation across the country.

10. Amazing Pet Organizations

The best part about the festival was I got the chance to donate to really awesome pet organizations that are doing truly wonderful things in the pet world. Including Catfe, which is trying to get Los Angeles' first cat cafe up and running.

The Paw Project. Don't declaw your cats, guys. Never.

Some organizations had posters like that, and no human could ever walk by a photo like that and not stop and donate.

In short: the LA Feline Film Festival was a blast and I can't wait to go again next year. Cats fuuurever.
