We don't think Stephenie Meyer has anything to worry about, but we're pretty impressed to see Twilight star Peter Facinelli jumping into the world of YA books.

Facinelli has teamed up with Hollywood producer Rob DeFranco and New York Times best-selling YA writer Barry Lyga to release After the Red Rain, a novel set in a future world destroyed by environmental disasters and mass poverty.

And only E! Online has the first look at After the Rain's cover. The white letters of the title are askew and laid over a looming red and black sky. Below, a person is seen standing on a pile of burning rubble while looking toward the city.

"I gained a real respect for the YA genre during my time with the Twilight series," Facinelli exclusively tells me. "I'm excited to offer my own take, and a story I have had the opportunity to co-create."

Said story centers around a boy named Rose who discovers he has inhuman powers that could help change the world and save the 50 billion people living in a hell on earth.

After the Red Rain is set for release by Little, Brown next August.

Facinelli is not the first (nor will he be the last) celeb to write a novel.

In June, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner became first-time authors when they published a sci-fi thriller called Rebels: City of Indra.

Britney Spears and her mom co-authored A Mother's Gift in 2001 about a young girl who wants to be—you guessed it—a singer.

While Brit and the reality star sisters won't be taking home a National Book Award anytime soon, there are a number of celebs that have had critical success in the literary world.

Funny man Steve Martin's first novel Shopgirl in 2000 spent 15 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list before being adapted for the big screen in 2005.

James Franco's collection of short stories, Palo Alto, was also made into a movie released earlier this year.

Star Wars queen Carrie Fisher's first novel, Postcards From the Edge, was a fictionalized look at her relationship with her mom Debbie Reynolds. The 1990 movie version starred Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine.

Congrats, Peter!
