Sister Cristina Scuccia is back and better than ever!

After winning the first season of The Voice Italy, the Catholic nun has released her first music video: a cover of Madonna's classic hit "Like a Virgin."

And before you start scratching your hands about the song choice, she has a good explanation.

"Reading the text, without being influenced by previous interpretations, you discover that it is a song about the power of love to renew people [and] rescue them from their past," she told the Italian newspaper Avvenire. "We have transformed this song from the pop-dance piece, which it was, into a romantic ballad."

From the first few scenes, fans can easily tell this is quite a unique rendition.

In the music video, Sister Cristina stands tall in several classic buildings in and around Venice while wearing a cross necklace. In comparison to Madonna's controversial video, the devoted Catholic avoids any animals and stays away from the signature white pearls the Material Girl donned in her project.

"It's something more similar to a lay prayer than to a pop piece," she added. "I'd like to see [Madonna's] face when they tell her it's a nun singing."

The talented singer first wowed the judges when the 25-year-old performed "No One" by Alicia Keys during the blind auditions of The Voice Italy.

All of the judges immediately turned their chairs, which led her to advance far into the series.

"I came here because I have a gift, and I want to share that gift," she told Catholic News Agency when asked why she auditioned for the show. "I am here to evangelize."

Her debut album is expected to be released on Nov. 11. It will include versions of well-known numbers, songs from the Christian music scene, two unreleased songs and the piece by Madonna.
