Matthew McConaughey is one fine lookin' gentleman.

Just ask Reese Witherspoon, his co-star in 2012's Mud.

"He's handsome and he's got talent," Witherspoon told me last night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, where McConaughey was honored with the 2014 American Cinematheque Award. "He's got what my friend calls a ‘two-hour face'—you want to watch him for two hours. He might even have a ‘six-hour face.' That hasn't been tested yet. Well, it has, hasn't it with True Detective? You could watch him all day."

McConaughey's Interstellar co-star Jessica Chastain remembered the first time she saw the Dallas Buyers Club Oscar-winner on the big screen.

"It was A Time to Kill," she said. "The closing speech and he's the defense attorney and he stops and he kind of puts his hand on his face and he chokes back his emotions and I remember watching that moment."

"Before that film, I thought, ‘Oh, that man's gorgeous,' and then when I saw that it was, 'Yes, he's gorgeous, but he's an actor,'" Chastain continued. "That was in the beginning and I've been a fan ever since."

Jimmy Kimmel, who hosted last night's festivities, cracked, "I've learned a lot from Matthew from watching his movies over the years. One thing I've learned is that I'm bi-curious."

Interstellar director Christopher Nolan presented McConaughey with his award.

"Years ago, before I had children and I always knew I wanted children, I said, ‘I don't think I want to raise them around this industry,'" McConaughey said. "I don't think I want them engaged in his industry. I want to move off somewhere and have them outside of it...But I can happily and honestly say now having children, I so love having them engaged in what we do and meeting the people that we get to work with."

Other presenters and guests included Anne Hathaway, Kate Hudson, Jennifer Garner and producer Lili Fini Zanuck. Sponsors included Dolce & Gabbana fragrances and car company Lincoln.
