ABC has made the first cancellation of the fall TV season after ordering more episodes of seven of its new and returning series, including Once Upon a Time, Grey's Anatomy and black-ish.
The network has canceled Manhattan Love Story, the low-rated freshman rom-com set in the Big Apple, THR reports. The comedy, which starred Analeigh Tipton and Jake McDorman (who are now dating in real-life, so hey, at least there's a silver lining!), debuted to just 4.7 million viewers, and dropped to 2.7 million by its fourth outing.
Even worse? It notched a paltry 0.7 demo rating in its final outing.
In addition to Grey's, OUAT and blackish, Modern Family, The Middle, The Goldbergs and Resurrection were also ordered for additional episodes by ABC. The only series yet to receive an increased episode order? Manhattan's fellow freshman sitcom Selfie. How to Get Away With Murder, the network's breakout hit drama starring Viola Davis, was picked up for a full season.
And technically, Manhattan Love Story isn't the first series to be axed this fall, as NBC grounded Mission Control, starring Krysten Ritter as an astronaut in the '60s, before it even aired, and Fox decided not to go forward with Hieroglyph, its ambitious drama set in ancient Egypt that was set to debut in 2015.
