Robert Downey Jr.: My Wife Is "About to Pop!"

Iron Man star jokes how tough second pregnancy has been for him

We so wouldn't be surprised if Robert Downey Jr.'s wife Susan goes into the labor by the time you finish reading this sentence.

At last night's BAFTA Los Angeles Jaguar Britannia Awards, the Iron Man star proudly urged Susan to stand up  so everyone could see her beautiful baby bump because she "literally is about to pop," he said.

"How is she so darn pretty and functional and mood stable," RDJ cracked. "This pregnancy has been extraordinarily tough for me—self prescribed mandatory bed rest. There's some benefit, at least my milk is finally coming in."

Downey Jr. ended his heartfelt but also very funny remarks with a message to his wife. "Mrs. Downey, if any day now you're in the throws of birthing and you need to yell at me, scratch me, scratch my face or blame me, that's fine because, yes, I did that to you."

The actor announced Susan was expecting their second child in July on his Facebook page. "Um. I don't know if it's a ‘man's world,' but I'm certain women run it. Susan and I are therefore delighted to announce we are expecting a baby. Girl. November."

RDJ was presented at last night's gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel with the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film by Jon Favreau and Jamie Foxx. Other honoree's included Julia Louis Dreyfus (The Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy), Emma Watson (The Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year presented by Burberry), Mark Ruffalo (Britannia Humanitarian Award, Dame Judi Dench (Albert R. Broccoli Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Entertainment) and Mike Leigh (John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing).

Prince William delivered a message via a video to thank BAFTA for all its hard work.

The Jaguar Britannia Awards are set to air on BBC America on Nov. 2 at 9 p.m.
