The couple, who tied the knot in Hawaii in May 2013 in a "female-centric" yet not legally binding ceremony, opted to make their nuptials official after gay marriage was legalized in their home state of Oregon.
"Legally married finally, a year later!" the Gossip singer captioned a photo with her spouse on her Facebook page. "Thanks everyone who fought to make gay marriage legal in Oregon! In 2015, the whole US!"
According to reports, the two legally wed on New Year's Eve, 17 months after they first said "I do." The longtime lovers first became friends nearly two decades ago.
"I met her when I was 18. She knew me as a kid, fresh from Arkansas, young and dumb and awesome," Ditto previously dished to Yahoo music. "We've been best friends for years. We had an agreement that when I was 32 and she was 34, we would get married. We got together three years ago, and a year ago she was like, 'Let's get married!'"
Ditto's entire Southern family attended her nuptials in Hawaii, which saw the singer walking down the aisle barefoot on the arm of Kristin, who was dressed in a white three-piece suit of a jacket, shirt and shorts.
"She's a Virgo, I'm a Pisces. She's very relaxed, very chill," the indie rock singer previously said of her partner, whom she admits is her polar opposite. "[You know how Virgos] are as grounded as can be, but then their neurosis is like on fire, and the thing that they're on fire about they're kind of quiet about and stewing about until the last minute, and then the people they're closest to they kind of lose it with? But I'm really good at caretaking the situation in the moment. We're yin and yang — I can't explain it."
