Leave it to Reese Witherspoon to be as cool (and cute) as ever even when things go awry.

The ever-charming actress was in the middle of announcing the winner for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role when she was oh-so-rudely interrupted by accidental canned applause. The fake clapping broke out right as she was uttering "And the Actor goes to..." But Witherspoon barely missed a beat—she simply had a good laugh and continued on.

It seems J.K. Simmons, who took home the prize for his work on Whiplash, wasn't fazed either. His acceptance speech was touching, funny, and a little irreverant—basically, it was just like Simmons himself. The actor made sure to give praise not only to Miles Teller, his film counterpart, but also to all of his coworkers on the much-beloved flick.

"I feel like all of us actors are supporting actors," said Simmons. "Each of us is supporting the story, the movie, whatever we're doing. Each of us is essential and crucial to the story, because if there's one false moment the train comes off the rails...So, I would like to thank the 49 actors who apear onscreen in Whiplash for realizing Damien Chazelle's vision so beautifully."

Simmons then went on to give it up for his gorgeous wife, fellow actor Michelle Shumacher, with a few well-timed jokes.

"We met 24 years ago as actors together on Broadway," he said. "And, 16 years ago she became a full-time mother to our above-average children. And, after many years of doing that she's now stepped to the other side of the camera writing and directing. Which is awesome because it means more jobs for me because I'm sleeping with the director." Cha-ching!
