Perhaps David Beckham should try competing in the Tour de France.

Ever since leaving professional soccer, the 39-year-old has become a regular fixture at SoulCycle spinning studios.

"I'm at SoulCycle a lot," he told me earlier this week when I caught up with him at the U.S. launch of his new Scotch whisky, Haig Club. "Yup, I'm very obsessed. It's a workout that I love. It's a workout I enjoy and to be honest since I finished playing there aren't too many workouts that I do enjoy. So when you find one, you stick with it."

Beckham insists he doesn't just work out to look good. "I don't feel pressure to stay in shape," the H&M underwear model said. "I've never felt that kind of pressure because I stay in shape because of my children. They help me stay in shape, having four kids running around after them. That helps. But I've never felt the pressure. I just enjoy feeling fit."

He added, "I think it's so important for people to understand that working out is not just about having a great body. Working out is about feeling good within yourself and being healthy."

Beckham is also running around working on many business projects. He's currently trying to bring a Major League Soccer franchise to Miami. Although local government officials have rejected two separate waterfront stadium proposals, Beckham is confident he'll get the club off the ground.

"We're pretty close to announcing certain things and then the stadium will come after that," he said. "You can't build a stadium overnight, so finding the right site, finding the right place in Miami is important for us. But it will all start coming together pretty quickly and everything will start happening pretty soon. I'm really excited about that. Being an ex soccer player to have my own team, I'm excited about that."

Building a massive empire wasn't always Beckham's goal.

"All I ever I wanted to be was a football player, a soccer player. That's all I ever wanted to be," he said. "I wasn't interested in fame [and] money. I'm still not.

"But to have won what I've won, played for my country, the amount of times I've played for my country and captained my country, to have moved to America and to be successful in America, it doesn't get much better than that," he said.

What's next? Space travel?

"Let's see," Beckham said with a laugh. "I'll think about that one."
