The second movie installment of the Divergent series is due out at the end of the month, but this latest news is even more exciting than that.

That's right, there's a brand new book series coming. The announcement was made via author Veronica Roth's Twitter page, but be warned that she's still keeping mum on the juicy details. We know very little about the upcoming novel's plot, and almost nothing about the main characters. But there's no sense in focusing on the negative—let's start with what we do know.

The as-yet-untitled novels will be a two-part series, and since they'll be published by Roth's imprint Harper Collins Children's Books, we can safely assume these next two tomes will be firmly entrenched in the YA genre just like Divergent. According to a statement by the publisher, the series will be slightly Star Wars-esque and follow the story of a boy who strikes up an unusual friendship with a former enemy: "Both desperate to escape their oppressive lives, they help each other attain what they most desire: for one, redemption, and the other, revenge."

In other words, don't expect this to be a refreshingly light change of pace from Tris and her fellow Divergents. In fact, it seems Roth's second go-round might be even darker than her first series. That's all the info that's been released as of now, mostly due to the fact that Veronica is still in the middle of writing the first installment.

The books are due out in 2017 and 2018 respectively, but expect at least a few hints to surface before then. And, if we all cross our fingers hard enough, maybe Theo James will appear in the onscreen adaptation.
