Watch: What Demi Lovato Thinks of "Thigh Gap" Trend

Demi Lovato is opening up about body acceptance and why that thigh gap trend has more than worn its welcome. (Hear, hear!)

E! News caught up with the actress on March 3 to get the scoop on that sexy bikini pic she posted over the weekend and the larger message behind it.

"For some reason this whole thigh gap thing has kind of swept over what people think is beautiful," Demi said. "And if you have that naturally then that's totally fine, you're still beautiful. But my body doesn't naturally have that. I wanted to show my fans out there who don't naturally have [the thigh gap] that it's okay. You don't have to have what you see in the magazines if that's not what your body naturally has."

The actress, who has been working to maintain a healthy, realistic diet and exercise schedule, also shared her new attitude toward day-to-day beauty.

"Your body is going to change, your looks are going to change, you're going to have great hair and makeup days, you're going to have bad hair and makeup days—it doesn't define who you are. At the end of the day, who you are is who people really see," she said.

The star was spotted on the set of Extra yesterday getting kisses from her adorable pup Buddy—though (and cute, fluffy dog aside), we couldn't keep out eyes off of her wob (that's wavy bob, for those not in the know) hairstyle.

Demi has experimented with color, length and asymmetric haircuts in the last year or so, but we're happy to see her settle with a natural shade and no-fuss texture. The 22-year-old paired her easy cut with a casual-chic get-up featuring a gray tee, clingy leather skirt and two-tone ankle-strap sandals.

But back to that hot bikini shot—on Feb. 27, the actress shared a sunny Instagram poolside selfie that sparked more conversation around the controversial thigh gap ideal.

"Regardless of what society tells you these days...You don't have to have a thigh gap to be beautiful," she wrote alongside the snapshot. "It is possible to love your body the way it is. #fitness #health #acceptance #selflove."

We're way on board with that one, Demi.
