Sean Penn knows exactly how to get out of a sticky situation: When in doubt, pretend like you don't know what anyone is talking about.

The actor was asked during a sit-down interview with Good Morning America earlier today whether he plans on tying the knot with his current leading lady, Charlize Theron.

"I have no idea," the Gunman star said. The reporter probed further, asking if he had asked the stunning blonde to marry him, and Penn's response was spot-on.

"Asked who?" he replied with a devilish grin.

Penn also dished on why he moved back to Los Angeles a few years ago after expressing disdain for the area.

"My ex-wife [Robin Wright] had gone back to live in Los Angeles and I was single-parenting my son [Hopper] for most of that first year following that, and within that time, I felt that he and his mother should see each other more and so it was really that that brought me back," he explained.

In the March 2015 issue of Esquire U.K., Penn opened up a bit more about his love life and previous failed marriages.

"You say I've been married twice before, but I've been married under circumstances where I was less informed than I am today, so I wouldn't even consider a third marriage, I'd consider it a first marriage on its own terms if I got married again. I mean, I like the tradition."

Penn was married to Madonna from 1985 until 1989. He and Wright divorced in 2010 after about 14 years of marriage.
