For fans of the popular series 16 and Pregnant, it feels like yesterday when Tyler Baltierra and Catelynn Lowell bravely decided to put their first child Carly up for adoption.
But more than five years after MTV cameras captured the emotional process, the couple is grateful to say they are still extremely close to their first daughter as well as her adoptive parents.
"Our relationship with Carly and Brandon and Teresa is really good," Catelynn revealed to E! News before the premiere of Teen Mom OG. "You definitely see us this season have a huge conversation with them where we all sit and talk about things. I think that helped a lot."
She added, "It was definitely an intense moment but our relationship is still very open."
Reports have surfaced that Catelyn and her fiancé haven't been communicating well with Carly's parents. Over the weekend however, Catelynn assured fans that everything is a-okay.
"All the crap of ppl saying that Carly's parents are taking away communication from ty and I are all lies," she declared on Twitter. "Don't always believe what u read."
Things are so good that communication both in person and virtually still happens regularly. It certainly reminds the young mom that she made the right decision, even if it was an extremely difficult one.
"We talk and we get to see her," she explained to E! News. "We get pictures and I text her all the time so it's still definitely very open."
One thing the parents haven't been able to do just yet is have Carly meet her younger sister Nova. Lucky for viewers, the special meeting may just come before Teen Mom OG wraps up.
"I'm not sure if it will be on the reunion show. I don't know if they'll be able to come or not or if it will be on our next visit," Catelynn teased. "We'll have to see how that works out."
