The jumpsuit—it's the ever-so-chic older sister to the jumper and romper. And if you haven't noticed by now, it's having a very adult moment.

The long one-piece first saw revival on the fall runways, where '70s references served as major inspiration to many a designer. Then as awards season red carpets rolled out, celebrities quickly took to the trend, trading in feminine dresses for the jumpsuit's clean lines and sexy design details. Now as the summer heat begins to set in, breezy iterations in lightweight fabrics are available in both luxury boutiques and big-box retailers. It's trickle-down fashion-omics at its best.

One must consider his or her shoe game—flats and jumpsuits do a frumpy ensemble make. Tailoring is essential, as even a bad hem can be the difference between red carpet-worthy and mechanic-chic. Most importantly, consider the ordeal that is going to the restroom.

Then again, what wouldn't we do in the name of fashion and beauty?
