Rapper DMX has been arrested in New York City for alleged failure to pay some $400,000 in child support, while charges over a gas station robbery were dropped.

The 44-year-old, whose real name is Earl Simmons, has not commented. A New York City Sheriff's Office spokesperson told local TV station WPIX-11 that DMX was taken into custody for "several issues outstanding," including a warrant issued over his alleged failure to pay some $400,000 in back child support.

He appeared before a judge on Saturday and was then detained again over an outstanding arrest warrant for bail jumping in a different county, officials told The New York Daily News.

Meanwhile, New Jersey authorities dropped charges against DMX over an April gas station robbery case after the victim could not identify him on surveillance video, the outlet reported. DMX's lawyer had told E! News that the robbery accusation was "completely absurd." No criminal charges were ever filed against the rapper.

On Friday, Police waited outside Radio City Music Hall for DMX and detained him for the child support claim moments before he was supposed to take the stage at the Masters of Ceremony concert, The New York Daily News reported, quoting police sources.

"As soon as he stepped out of his vehicle, they grabbed him and drove off with him," one of them told the outlet.
