Congrats to Sophie B. Hawkins!

The 50-year-old singer, known for '90s love songs such as "Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover" and "As I Lay Me Down," has given birth to her second child, a baby girl. She had announced her pregnancy in February.

The child, Esther Ballantine Hawkins, was born on Tuesday at New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Campus, the same medical center where her mom was born, People reported. She joins big brother Dashiell Gaston Hawkins, 6, whose father is the singer's ex-partner Gigi Gaston.

Ester was actually conceived almost 20 years ago. According to Us Weekly, Sophie had had 15 embryos frozen at age 31, at the peak of her music career. Many celebrities and businesswomen have their eggs or embryos frozen, following in vitro fertilization, during their reproductive years for use in future pregnancies.

"Being 50 is actually an amazing age to have a second child because I am more wise, calm, humorous, appreciative, simple and clear," Hawkins told Us Weekly. "I'm not running around looking for love and validation. I live each day full of gratitude, and that's good for my children."

Sophie had tweeted on Tuesday that "Baby Gum" was on the way and posted a photo of the hospital.

Sophie talked about raising a second child as a single mother on her People blog in April.

"After the breakup with my partner of 17 years, I haven't wanted to share my heart with anyone but my son, and it has been positively wonderful," she wrote. "I could have chosen a suitor, a grown-up love affair that may turn into the new parent of my son and then have a baby together, or perhaps I would've fallen in love with someone who has children, built-in siblings. But from experience, I know that most falling in love ends with a thud after two years, and then my son would have to go through another traumatic loss, and he'd think I was insane and lose trust in me."

"While the rewards of a new adult relationship can be totally fulfilling, the rewards of having a new baby are so much greater," she said. "And so is the commitment, which is why it's so scary. Marriage is a walk in the park compared to being a single mother or father. I'll take that walk later."
