She and Nick Jonas, both 23, are believed to have dated for several months in 2008, when they were teenagers, following his breakup from fellow Disney Channel star Miley Cyrus.
"We were babies," Gomez said in an interview with the U.K. radio station Capital FM. "But we actually caught up the other day and it's really fun to be able to do that."
"That, to me, was like puppy love, you know, it was very sweet." she added.
The singers remained friendly over the years. They were spotted out together in 2010 and also sparked romance rumors earlier this year. They were last photographed together at a 2015 MTV VMAs after party in late August.
"He is lovely," Gomez told Capital FM. "I do have a love for him, for sure."
A sneak peek of Gomez's interview aired on Wednesday, a day after the release of her sexy new music video "Same Old Love." The singer is also promoting her upcoming new album Revival, which is set for release on Oct. 9.
In 2008, Gomez, who appeared in the Jonas Brothers' music video "Burnin' Up," was asked about the Nick rumors in an interview on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show On Air With Ryan Seacrest.
"Well, he's an amazing guy, Ryan. Anybody would be very lucky to be dating him," she said, adding, "I'm close to all the brothers."
In July, Nick addressed the most recent dating rumors involving him and Gomez, in an interview with Capital FM.
"It was nice to connect and just catch up," he said. "I'll leave it there!"
In an interview with Capital FM in January, when he was dating Miss Universe and Miss USA 2012 Olivia Culpo, Nick played a "Lips, Wife, Leave It" game in which he had to sort Gomez, Cyrus and Demi Lovato into categories.
