Watch: Kate Winslet Doesn't Want Her Kids Having Smart Devices

Kate Winslet may be one of the stars of Steve Jobs, but she's not rushing out anytime soon to buy iPhones for her kids.

"It's a little scary, I think," the Oscar winner told E! News at the movie's New York Film Festival screening. "We become addicted."

Winslet isn't blind to the fact that computers are part of her children's daily lives. The oldest is 14-year-old daughter Mia followed by son Joe, who is 11. Winslet's youngest 22-month-old son Bear.

"At the end of the day, it is a part of how we live," she said. "Certainly in terms of education, I think there is so much done on computers these days…I've had to sort of relent and accept that. Actually my children's knowledge of computers because of IT classes is much more sophisticated then mine. But do mine have devices? No, they don't."

Winslet added, "I think we have to always be a little careful because they still have to live a life and they still have to climb trees and break their knees and get muddy. That's important."

In the Steve Jobs biopic, Winslet plays Joanna Hoffman, who worked closely with Jobs during Apple's early years. Michael Fassbender stars in the title role. Directed by Danny Boyle, the film's cast also includes Seth Rogen and Jeff Daniels.

"I'm not technically literate," screenwriter Aaron Sorkin said. "I like pens."

Steve Jobs is in theaters Oct. 9.
