Michelle Obama's Fashion Fix

It's a designer's worst nightmare: First lady and fashion trendsetter Michelle Obama opts to wear one of your creations to a major event, and you don't even get credit.

That's exactly what happened when the black gown Michelle donned for Time's 100 gala last week was incorrectly attributed as an Azzedine Alaia creation. It was actually made by Michael Kors.

Michelle donned another Michael Kors dress for the White House Correspondents' Dinner last weekend...and this time, the hot-pink frock was correctly credited to the designer.

Some fashion types were wondering if perhaps the first lady was trying to make it up to Michael.

What'd the Project Runway judge have to say about all of it?

“I am sure a woman as smart and organized as Mrs. Obama knew in advance what she planned to wear this week for both events,” he told WWD. “I am honored that she chose to wear my clothes to two events in the same week and looked so chic at both occasions.”

And probably pleased that he got full credit for the dress the second time around, we're betting!
