Daytime Emmy Doesn't Get The View

Last fall's presidential election helped The View to killer ratings. Didn't do much for its Emmy reel, though, apparently.

The gabfest show failed to nab a Daytime Emmy nomination today as Outstanding Talk Show for the first time since 1998.

Defending champ Rachael Ray will go up against Live with Regis and Kelly and Ellen in the View-less entertainment talk category. (Oprah Winfrey, by the by, hasn't submitted Oprah for the approval of Emmy voters for years.)

The View's Whoopi Goldberg, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Joy Behar, Sherri Shepherd and Barbara Walters were jointly nominated as Outstanding Talk Host—a category the show's never won.

Elsewhere, three stars from the set-to-dim Guiding Light earned acting nominations (although the show itself was denied one last chance at the Outstanding Drama Series trophy), All My Children's Susan Lucci failed to earn a nod for the seventh straight ceremony and Sesame Street was tapped for a lifetime achievement award. AMC and Sesame Street topped all nominees, with 19 and 15 nods, respectively.

The 36th Annual Daytime Emmys are set for Aug. 30. Vanessa Williams is to host.

The complete list of nominees is available at Emmyonline.org.
