Saturday Night Live aims to please. Well, sometimes, at least.

The rallying cries on Facebook proved too loud for Lorne Michaels to ignore, and Betty White will be hosting the sketch comedy show May 8, NBC has announced.

The 88-year-old Proposal star—who won the hearts of any remaining souls who didn't know who she was when she tackled a Super Bowl commercial for Snickers—will be leading the charge for the Mother's Day episode. The campaign on the social networking site exploded, attracting nearly half a million followers.

"It took on a groundswell," Michaels told USA Today. "It isn't something we would have said no to, [but the campaign] validated that…It was the outpouring of affection from fans, and we feel the same way."

Michaels also claims he "always wanted" to see the Golden Girl host the show.

"My agent said he'd divorce me if I didn't do it, and I love my agent," White says.

The May 8 Mother's Day episode will also see the return of six former female castmembers: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Ana Gasteyer, Maya Rudolph and Rachel Dratch.
