Geek-ing Out at Comic-Con

What happens when you get 150,000 nerds converging in San Diego for 4 days? Mix in big studio pictures, top network shows and tons of celebrities...I got two words for ya Comic-Con.

I think the best way to describe the 4 day event that I just witnessed would be surreal. Geek-cique was out in full force as you walked around surrounded by Storm Troopers, Princess Leia’s and Ghostbusters.

The nerds and sci-fi geeks defiantly come out in full force and Hollywood has taken notice. Big studios flaunt their coolest projects, networks bring in sneak peeks and celebrities come to show the fan boys what they have all been waiting for.

Watchmen, The Spirit, Max Payne and Terminator were just a few of the movies causing geekgasms at this year’s pop culture event. Mix in celebrities like Keanu Reeves, Kiefer Sutherland, Samuel L. Jackson, Gerard Butler, Mark Wahlberg, Seth Rogan, Judd Apatow…I could go on an on.

I mean where else can you talk to Judd about marijuana smoking being an $8 ticket in Canada and a 15 year jail sentence in the United States.

Comic-Con has become a huge hype machine and that’s just fine by me!

These are the fans that will be hitting the theatres so it’s a good idea to find out whether they like something or not. This event has become so important that Hugh Jackman is willing to fly overnight from Australia to show the first shots of his new movie Wolverine: Origins to a crowd of shocked on lookers. That’s what makes Comic-Con so cool. (The footage was amazing, can’t wait until next May!)

Comic-Con 2008 is over but don’t forget to tune in August 8th as E! News Weekend is your hook up to all things Geek!
