Not to be overshadowed by the popular TIFF, the Vancouver International Film Festival is set to bring to the West many of the top prize-winners from the major world film festivals, including Three Monkeys (Turkey), acclaimed earlier this year at Cannes and Next Floor, a Canadian short by Quebec’s Denis Villeneuve, which won top prize for shorts at Cannes.

Sundance prize winners coming to VIFF include Captain Abu Raed , which won the World Cinema Audience Award and Ballast, by Lance Hammer, which won the Directing Award.

VIFF is one of the five largest film festivals in North America, screening about 350 films, many undiscovered gems from around the world, on 10 screens over 16 days.
