UK Divas Rock!

E! News Weekend has been out on the field, hot on the trail of some sexy UK songstresses, namely KT Tunstall. The singer-songwriter is famous for looping sounds during live performances and performing entire songs by herself with loops instead of a band. We’ve got an exclusive interview with the Scotswoman talking frankly about her views on shows like American Idol. She even goes as far as saying some pop music being produced by “slave drivers” only interested in pumping out money making hits.

KT loves the T-dot, where she played some of her first shows at the Drake Hotel. Check out the video of her chatting about music reality television shows – this in reaction to her song, "Black Horse and a Cherry Tree," being performed by Katherine McPhee on American Idol.

Another British diva, Estelle, whom I had the chance to meet last month when she was in Toronto, has been tearing up the charts lately with her duet with Kanye West, "American Boy." She told me about the huge impact relationships had on her album, Shine.

“It started with one. “In The Rain” was about one dude, “Come Over” was about someone else, “More Than Friends” was about someone else. I had four years of crazy to go through,” she says, “After I broke up with him, I was on the tip of the iceberg of self discovery and adulthood. I was 24 and I thought I was grown, I was handling my business. I didn’t know who I was, I was being swayed by different opinions on who I should be and what I should do. Then, I thought, I look how I look and I sound like I sound. My opinions are my opinions – that took me four years. Now I see other people and they’re not too sure about themselves and now I’m happy being me.”

E!’s Arisa Cox did a great interview with Estelle – take a look!
