TIFF '08: Rolling Out the Red Carpet on Day 3
Sony
Compared to Friday night’s hijinks, Saturday’s Red Carpet affair is a lot quieter.
For starters, the first Red Carpet of the day is Peter O’Toole’s film Dean Spanley, followed by the Oscar buzz film Rachel Getting Married. Anne Hathaway’s performance in Jonathan Demme’s latest film is getting a lot of pre-awards chatter.
Later on, Fernando Meireilles adaptation of Jose Saramago’s Nobel prize winning novel Blindness will be screened for the first time to North American audiences. Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Danny Glover, Gael Garcia Bernal are just some of the actors that will be in town to support their film.
And that’s not all folks…Larry Charles’ follow-up to Borat is Bill Maher’s doc ‘Religulous’ and that too will be having its debut Saturday night.
Michael Cera’s latest won’t be getting the same kind of buzz as last year’s Juno but he will be bringing Nick and Norah’s Inifinite Playlist to the festival. This High Fidelity/Before Sunrise-esque film for the Ipod generation will be rolling out the red carpet at the Ryerson Theatre where Cera, Kat Dennings and their cast mates will be out in full force to promote this cute flick.
