Beastie Boys Spot Sasquatch, Euro Fests
It's not quite Intergalactic, but the Beastie Boys are going intercontinental.
The rap-rock trio said that they're putting the finishing touches on their seventh studio album and are planning to hit the European festival circuit this summer after lying relatively low since releasing the platinum-selling To the 5 Burroughs in 2004.
Adam Yauch, aka MCA, told Billboard's Website that they're looking to release their new album this summer, as well.
Before Yauch, Adam Horovitz (Adrock) and Mike Diamond (Mike D) head to Lisbon for the Alive! Festival on June 10, however, they'll play a headlining slot Sunday, May 27 at the Sasquatch! Music Festival in George, Washington.
Sarah Silverman has been tapped to host the Northwest fest, which will take place May 26-27 at the Gorge Amphitheater and also feature Interpol, Björk, Arcade Fire, the Dandy Warhols, M.I.A. and more than two dozen others acts.
While their previously reported itinerary currently has them traipsing through Portugal, Turkey, Germany, France, Belgium and Poland during the month of June, the Beastie Boys announced on their Website that they've also signed up for the U.K.'s Bestival Sept. 9 on the Isle of Wight.
Other North American dates may be in the works, too.
In between studio efforts, the New York natives put out the best-of compilation Solid Gold Hits in 2005, consisting entirely of tunes released as singles over the years. The concert film Awesome; I F----n' Shot That!, consisting of footage shot by 50 members of the audience during a show at Madison Square Garden in 2004 and billed as "an authorized bootleg," premiered last year at the Sundance Film Festival.
