It's probably safe to say that a trip to the hospital was not a part of Winona Ryder's flightplan.

As it happens, the actress was briefly hospitalized after falling ill on a U.K.-bound British Airways flight this morning.

A spokesman for west London's Hillingdon Hospital confirmed to Britain's Press Association that the 37-year-old star was treated by medics upon deboarding the flight and was later checked over as a precautionary measure.

"The captain of BA282, which was traveling from L.A. to Heathrow, requested a priority landing as a female passenger required medical attention," a spokesman for British Airways said, adding that she was "looked after" by the crew onboard the flight and even accompanied by airline workers to the medical center.

"The passenger was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The plane touched down shortly before noon U.K. time."

The nature of Ryder's illness has not been disclosed, but she has since been released from the hospital.

It's unclear whether Ryder was flying abroad for business or pleasure, though she is set to appear in the upcoming Star Trek film. Several press events in promotion of the movie, due out in May, have taken place in London this month.
