Toni Braxton Talks Cancer Scare

When Toni Braxton said "Un-Break My Heart" to her doctors, they complied.

The singer recently had a tumor removed from her breast, she tells Us Weekly. Luckily, it wasn't cancer.

"I was worried about what they would find," she admits.

Braxton's doctors found the lump during a routine visit in August—after she had begun training with Alec Mazo for Dancing With the Stars—and was told she would be fine to continue.

Upon elimination, the Grammy winner paid the doc a follow-up visit. The lump had grown and needed to be removed.

"Getting the boot on the show was actually a blessing in disguise for me," she says. "We have a family history. My grandmother on my dad's side died of breast cancer, and I have aunts on both sides that have breast cancer."

While Braxton was sidelined for the DWTS finale at the end of November, the lump turned out to be benign and now she is a confirmed participant in the upcoming DWTS tour.

"I was very fortunate," she says. "Cancer knows no race, no creed, no color."
