Slap-Happy Osbourne Slapped With Assault

Kelly Osbourne is in trouble for giving new meaning to headbanging.

Ozzy's spawn was arrested in London earlier this month on a charge of assault for allegedly slapping a tabloid reporter in the face at a nightclub last summer.

Per protocol, Scotland Yard officials have not disclosed Osbourne's name in connection with the arrest, but released the following statement on the incident:

"I can confirm that a 24-year-old woman attended a central London police station by appointment at 3 p.m. on Jan. 2," they said in a statement. "She was arrested for common assault relating to an alleged incident in Soho in the early hours of Aug. 29, 2008.

"She was bailed to attend a central London police station on a date in March."

The assault allegation was lobbed by Daily Mirror columnist Zoe Griffin, who wrote on Aug. 30 that she was confronted by Osbourne in Soho's Punk nightclub about a less than flattering item Griffin had written about Osbourne's boyfriend and reported fiancé Luke Worrall—namely that he was unaware of how an earthquake occurred.

The lesson to be learned: Never come between a girl and her love of amateur seismologists.

" 'I have an issue with you,' " Osbourne said, per Griffin's column. " 'My boyfriend knows what an earthquake is and everyone has been laughing at him and he's upset. And then you take the piss out of my dad by saying he's thick and he's not.

" 'He's like seriously clever.' "

It was at that point things took a turn for the criminal.

"That's when I felt a hard slap to my right cheekbone," Griffin wrote. "I put my hand to my face while my friends looked on aghast.

"I was in a state of shock."

Not that that was the end of the encounter.

"Soon Kelly came rampaging back over with a female friend jabbing a finger in the air, telling me that I'd have to watch my back if I shared my story with readers of this column.

"'You better watch it. You better watch it. If you write about it, you better watch it.'"

Osbourne has yet to comment on the arrest.
